Gyongdang is an ancient Korean martial art that specializes in the use of a stick that resembles the Japanese Jo. Its history can be traced back to the time of the Goguryu Dynasty, and is claimed to be based on the the "24 Military Arts" or Mu Ye Yi Sip Sa Ban found in a book entitled Mu Ye Do Bo Tong Ji, written in 1790 as a guide for the Korean military at that time. The purpose of the art's training was to develop a disciplined military mind and spirit. Gyongdang also teaches its students to promote devotion to the welfare of mankind and make the world a better place.
