Hankido is a Korean martial art that is primarily intended for self-defence that emphasizes using the minimal amount of force necessary to subdue an attacker. Its goal is to develop a non-violent attitude which is manifested through its strict moral code. The techniques of this art are very easy to learn. The basic punches, kicks, locks and throws can be learned in a very short period of time, probably three to five months. Hankido is said to be a very versatile martial art wherein practitioners learn how to perform their techniques using both the left and right side of their bodies.
