Kashima Shinryu is a Japanese martial art that is named after the Kashima Shrine located in Kashima, Ibaraki Prefecture. It is a fighting style that combines elements of koryu budo (old martial arts) such as kenjutsu, battojutsu, and jujutsu in its training to make it a comprehensive system of combat. This art is said to be 500 years old and considered one of the most respected styles in Japan. However, because of its rigid training, many are reluctant to train under this system.
