Kumdo: Korean form of Kendo

Kumdo is the Korean martial art of fencing. It is basically the Korean version of the Japanese sport of Kendo. As in Kendo, its practitioners wear protective armor called the hogu (bogu) and use simulated swords called the jukdo (shinai) which is used to "spar" against one another. This martial art is very formal and the strike areas are limited, as are the moves. Its training mostly consists of two-person drills, and some basic kata from Kendo have been retained.
