Nanbudo is a Japanese martial art that is considered a new system of self-defence and combat combined with techniques that focus on the improvement of physical and mental health. It is further characterized by combining systems known as kido ho and budo ho, which means health techniques and combat techniques, respectively. The movements of Nanbudo imitate the movements of nature like the movements of trees blown by the wind, or the waves of the ocean striking the sands of the shore. Nanbudo also combines principles and elements from Aikido, Judo and Karate.
Nanbudo was developed by Yoshinao Nanbu in 1978.
