The International Jendo Federation’s Olympic of Filipino martial arts sports Jendo and Arnis under the umbrella organization of the International Martial Arts Games Committee was approved by the IMGC Executive Board at the 5th Congress on April 14, 2008 at the Hotel Manhattan, Bangkok, Thailand.
The approval was decided upon immediately after the International Jendo Federation was accepted thru a majority vote as a member of the IMGC.
Among the IMGC member countries represented during the approval are Australia, Argentine, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, China Hong Kong, China Taipei, Czech Rep, DPR Korea, England, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Greenland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Palestine, Russia, Scotland, Serbia, Slovenia, South Africa, Srpska, Sweden, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, Wales and the Philippines represented by the International Jendo Federation.
During the 5th Congress which was held simultaneously with the 3rd International Martial Arts Games at the Asian Games Village in Bangkok, Grandmaster Prof. Jonathan “June” Makiling Abaya, the founding President of the International Jendo Federation (IJF) and his committee received an IMGC recognition and “Certificate of Appreciation” for organizing the 1st Asian Martial Arts Games last November 29th to December 4th of 2007 at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium, Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila.
The certificate of award was received by the International Jendo Federation’s Secretary General Teresita Biscaro from IMGC President Professor Chang Ung who is a Senior member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since 1996.
With IMGC recognition Filipino Martial Arts Jendo Ring Sport and Arnis Sport will now be secured under International Jendo Federaion (IJF) as its international governing body.
On September 1st through the 7th , International Jendo Federation will be conducting an International Jendo and Arnis Technical Course and Tournament in Mandaluyong City for its member federations technical officials and instructors in preparation to its 2009 Inter-continental Championships in the Philippines the 2010 IMGC 4th International Games in DPR Korea.
