Yagyu Shingan Ryu is a true samurai art

Yagyu Shingan Ryu is a Japanese martial art and comprehensive combat system, focusing on Jujutsu, Bojutsu, Naginatajutsu, Iajutsu and Kenjutsu. This art was designed for one purpose: effectiveness on the battlefield. Its techniques were therefore designed to eliminate an enemy quickly and effortlessly. Warriors were usually dressed in armor and hand-to-hand combat was at close range.

This style was used by the samurai for self-preservation and to save honour. In cases where an unskilled soldier attacked a samurai, the samurai couldn't use a weapon to stop or kill the attacker as it would be considered unworthy of the weapons skills of a samurai; for this reason, he had to disable or kill the attacker by means of unarmed combat.
